Phill and I went to Smorgasburg just last month, but this weekend was vegan themed and Kim & Darryl were going, so we decided to get there early and pig out before the Super Bowl. We were so excited we arrived before they opened!
While we waited for Kim, Darryl and baby Emily to show up we split a chicken sandwich from Daddy’s Chicken Shack. It held up pretty well, and we liked the brioche bun. Not bad.
Even though they’re a new regular vendor, I wanted to try Golden Clouds this time. We put in our order and were given a twenty minute wait time.
During that wait we went next door to Workaholic and shared two mandu, the beef one which we love, and the tofu one because it was vegan weekend. The tofu one was too flavorless, though Kim said the spicy tofu one is a lot better. Now we know.
The golden cloud plate I ordered was pretty to look at (and take a picture of) and tasted great too. The chickpea cloud was like cornbread and all the spices and flavors went well together. Definitely worth trying.
Phill was still hungry for another chicken sandwich, so we split one from Bolo, which was even better than Daddy’s Chicken Shack. I even liked it more than the one we had last month from Bahn Oui.
After all that we were quite stuffed, though Kim and Darryl went back in for more, so we parted ways. All in all another food filled and satisfying trip to Smorgasburg.
