Palm Desert Weekend – Day 1
I actually drove to Palm Desert Friday night, getting around 11 after waiting for traffic to die down a bit before leaving. It proved to be faster than the four hour struggle Chris and Cristina had getting there.
The house was decent enough, spacious for us all. But the family room area had a leak.
It was also oddly furnished considering that’s where the TV was.
I woke up early enough to go for a hike, going to the nearby Cross Trail.
It was a quick hike, but gave me some good views of the valley.
The aforementioned cross.
The trail back along the mountain.
Once we were sick of waiting for Chris and Cristina to wake up, Mom, Dad, Mike and I went out for brunch to Wilma and Frieda’s. There was a little wait as that place is popping, so we explored the mall a bit.
I went with the biscuits and gravy, always a solid choice.
I also had to try some of their French toast pudding, which was pretty much a dessert as expected.
Mom and Dad enjoyed their meal as well.
Once they were up, we all went to Fantasy Island Casino because there was nothing else to do. Mom went straight to the slots.
After losing the money Dad gave us to gamble, I watched Mike eat a pre-dinner pizza.
For dinner we took Mom and Dad out to Kaiser Grille.
Instead of a salad I had the ahi tuna poke for an appetizer. Good choice. The salads were weak.
Chris trying to smile when he had his crappy Caesar salad.
The steaks were much better. The filet mignon was a good option. Unfortunately the meat was somewhat cold by the time it got to us.
Mike wasn’t too happy about that.
Creme Brûlée for dessert managed to salvage the meal.
Overall Kaiser Grille was pretty disappointing considering how much they’re charging for it all. We made the most of it and had a good time though, so I guess that’s what counts.
